Helping Marvel evolve — and designing a future where more fans see themselves in the story.
During a pivotal chapter following Disney’s acquisition of Marvel, Janet T. Planet was invited to work with Disney Imagineering to help shape the future of one of the world’s most beloved franchises. Her role focused on strategic storytelling and experience design — with an emphasis on expanding Marvel’s emotional reach and cultural relevance.
Initially conceived by and for men and boys, Marvel’s universe was at a crossroads. Janet was asked to help reframe the brand’s character roadmap through a more inclusive lens — identifying which heroes and stories should be prioritized to connect with new audiences while honoring the canon. This work informed long-range content strategy and character sequencing.
Janet also collaborated on the concept design for Marvel’s Flagship Retail destination — a hybrid of experiential retail and themed entertainment — laying the groundwork for elements that now appear in Avengers Campus locations around the world.
Janet also consulted with Imagineering on additional Disney brand experiences currently under NDA — further reflecting the trust placed in her ability to shape future-facing, emotionally resonant worlds.
